There is one boat downtown. It is a ripoff. Stay clear of it.

Fishing anywhere along coastal Maine is tough. I've been there a few times and didn't even bother.... You might be better of fishing the inland lakes.

Bar Harbor is a beautiful place though, enjoy. Lots on great scenery. Be sure and check out Caddilac Mountain and take the drive along the Acadia National Park loop.

Agreed. Stayed a week at Little Deer Island just south Acadia. Fished every day. I could see 20 feet down near shore and never even saw bait fish.

You get the idea that fishing up there really sucks, when you cant even find a bait shop near the water.

AWFUL!!! Worst fishing spot I've ever been to. Even grwoing up in ELizabeth in the 1960's the grossly polluted Arthur Kill had crabs and eels. Maine saltwater had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!

I am still amazed how poor a pristine state like that sucked to fish in.

Hired a guide to fish for stripers in Boothbay Harbor a couple of years ago. Had a great time and caught maybe six or eight schoolies on a half day trip on light tackle with jigs and poppers. We also live lined mackeral but no takers.

Sweet Action Charters was the name. Nice guy and a very enjoyable trip.
