![]() Been a long time since my last fishing report, actually January to be exact, so you could imagine the pent up cabin fever I had going into yesterday's trip. Given the blow in the past few days and the harsh temp changes I wasn't terribly optimistic with what the ocean would serve us but we decided to pound the grounds in search of some biscuits.
Had a bit of a snafu with the boat at 6am, (one engine wouldn't start) so after switching batteries, juggling cables and a lil bit of luck, we got em going and pushed off around 7:45. Steamed North a few miles off Long Branch and when the WPT alarm started ringing I was staring at the OE resetting her anchors. Just thinking out loud and a few choice words later we decided to switch to Plan B and make a short run to the East. Drifted the wreck a few times to gauge where we would need to be in order to get a grapple set on her and nothing but doggies. At this point between the engine trouble, the late start, someone already on the first wreck, my frustration level was almost at it's peak. After a few misses and finally a good set we were draining clam bellies and squid cuts and starting to build a bite. Few doggies mixed in here and there, but after the commotion down deep started peaking the fishes interests we were bailing biscuits in the small to medium size class. Picked through a number of shorts, and right about when the S-SE wind started to come up we re-positioned on the wreck and started wacking away. Drop and reel pretty much for the next two hours, had a few nice doubles mixed in with some solid 2-3 pounders. Biggest fish was about 4.5lbs going 22.5 inches..caught by yours truly. All in all we managed to make some pretty dam good lemonade with all the am lemons, and finished up with a 3 man limit leaving the wreck around 1:30pm. Had a few cookie cutter toggy (released) in the mix, and a lone baby blue, but was very surprised not to see one Ding-A-Ling on the entire wreck. Beautiful day on the water spent with my old man and Capt Todd, finished the washing and cutting off as always with some Gentleman Jack on ice and a few Miller Latte chasers. Got home fired up the side burner on the Weber and panko fried up some biscuits with several glasses of Malbec. Couldn't ask for a better weekend closer. Hopefully the warmer weather turns those ocean side flukies on I got 200 jigs just waiting to be donated...

![]() Nice work buddy. You guys are sooo spoiled up north! We almost had our two man limit yesterday but when that south wind came up, it shut down our fishing! Which is typical off Barnegat.
