So this Sunday I'm heading to my uncles for a BBQ around 3. He lives a mile off the Big D in Stockton. I'd like to head up early and do some fishing in the area before the party. I'm thinking maybe 30 minutes in any direction from Stockton. I'd like to try for smallmouth or walleye but honestly I would be well out of my comfort zone as I usually fish for lmb down here. Trout wouldn't really be out of the question either. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Ps I'm leaving the yak at home so this will be all shore fishing.

Head for rt 29 and follow it downstream. Look for access points near Bulls Island state park and D&R state park. Downstream past Lambertsville there is a dirt rd that runs along the river heading toward 95. Lots of access points in this area. Rivers running high, bring cut bait, chicken livers, worms and whatever you can get your hands on. Good luck!!!

If you walk down to the river by the footbridge in Bull's Island State Park, there are a few nice holes and slow riffles if you walk upstream on the Jersey side. You're gonna need either waders or water shoes...and watch out for the poison ivy.
