![]() I cannot seem to find a fairly stout spinning rod thats made of graphite.. My son wants one.. We only get to fish saltwater a few times a year.. Being 250 miles away in the NY Finger Lakes there is NO saltwater tackle available. Most salmon rods are 8 12- foot noodle rods of some sort..
Even a rod for big catfish and carp might work, but everything is fiberglass.. hollow glass is too soft when fishing in 240 foot of water with 12 oz. of lead in a heavy current.. He claims he can't feel the hits... Anyway, I am looking for a spinning rod for party boat fishing thats all graphite and is reasonably priced.. I don't want to buy a $350 rod to go out for ling once or twice a year... Any help as to where I can buy something like I described??.. ps.. He does NOT like conventional reels, spinning only.. I have found several suitable conventional rods locally, but he wants a spinner... bob |

![]() The finger lakes you say? There is a huge ns store there can get you anything you need! I would suggest a sponsor but because of your local it doesn't seem practical?

![]() You don't need a spinning rod. You are dropping bait to the bottom and can use a conventional rod being as you are not casting. Uglystik.

My son wants a heavy duty graphite rod for deep bottom fishing .. Whats the difference if I get him a graphite conventional, or graphite spinner?? I still have to get a heavy duty graphite, might as well get him the correct rod.. Also the reel going on it is a mint condition USA Penn 8500SS.. It will be the best rod reel combo we own.. Why use the wrong rod???... One of our sponsors has already hooked me up it looks like... bob |

![]() If you don't mind Bob, who was the sponsor and what was the rod ??
I'm looking for a similar 7 footer, for a baitrunner 4500 I have. It's currently on an 8 foot 2 piece, but I'd like a 7 footer for party boat duty. Thanks & Merry Chistmas, Happy Holidays to all. Tom K. |
