Millstone River

Went fishing in the 65 degree Millstone River this evening for the first time in a while. Caught and released a largemouth bass with a small, black shad dart and 1.5” white twister tail on 2 lb test line on my first cast of the day. Didn’t get a hit while ultralight jigging after that. Landed 3.5 lb and 8 lb common carp with canned whole kernel corn on a #4 long shank gold hook and > 60 year old 4 lb test mono. Took a long time to reel in the big carp. Caught and released 2 yellow bullheads on 12 lb test line just before I left at night. Caught one on my last cast of the day. I’ll probably go fishing at Manasquan tomorrow.

Went carping in the 66 degrees Millstone River on the north shore in Plainsboro, NJ, this evening on a warm, sunny day with a light west wind. Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught and released 3 bluegills to 8.5” with canned whole kernel corn bait on a #4 long shank gold hook and 4 lb test line. Also caught a 17” white sucker and 3 common carp at 5, 4 and 3.5 lb. Landed 74 carp this year including 8 the last 3 days.
