I am open to other recommendations as well. Thank you |

Re: DE/MD Fluke Party boat spinning rod?
1. What weight bucktails (or sinkers) do you anticipate using with the rod?
2. Do you set the hook quickly or calmly? I prefer a faster action rod (like the St. Croix) to set the hook with a quick wrist snap. Having said that, I've been schooled by better anglers whose slower action rods allowed them to slowly set the hook as the fluke / flounder eats the jig and turns away. |

Quote:
1. Usually lighter than 2oz BT but sometimes I have to use 3oz sinker 2. I tell people to set the hook slowly(gently lift the rod) but most of them don’t listen Lol |

Re: DE/MD Fluke Party boat spinning rod?
I have that exact slow pitch tsunami on that same reel and it is great. Plenty of power for big fish, casts a mile, super lightweight and sensitive. One negative is the guides are very small so when using a top shot there can be some issue when trying to get a far cast or when reeling in having some resistance getting the knot through the tip. Still a great lightweight setup for under 2oz. I also have a Penn battalion 815S76, retails $120, and that is a faster action, lightweight, can cast that size jigs forever, and is my hands down favorite light bucktailing spinning rod.

Re: DE/MD Fluke Party boat spinning rod?
I have a friend using the Tsunami SWSPS701M Slim Wave Spinning Medium and he loves it.....Uses it for Fluke, Stripers and to jig for Blackfish
As far as the BG 2500..... If you can squeeze another $100 out of your budget, I think the Ballistic is a much better reel and it's very light, which I feel is very important... Not so much for Fluke since their bite is practically suicidal but if you intend to jig blackfish, the lighter the set up the better... It gives you a much better feel to detect those light pecks and bites ...
