Default Keyport Seahawk - Last trip of the season

Well all in all i'd call the short tog season for us about average. no where near as good as last year, but oh well. Got less trips in this season as well, which sucks but what can you do.

We stumbled on some bird activity on the way out but everywhere we tried was cookie cutter city. We played with them on light gear for a bit and headed to tog town. It was another slow pick most of the day with good bite windows almost right smack between outgoing and incoming tides.

Bait rigs caught a few more shorts, jig and bait rigs caught same amount of keepers. NJsquatch got to hook into his first 6 blackfish including 1 keeper so he got to feel the raw power of these tanks. 3 keepers each for John and I during the two bite windows, and that was that.

I'll def be looking to jump on some charters this winter, the game isn't over yet

Great shots there. Lots of our sponsors will be in for a while yet and it certainly is a nice change of pace to just show up with your gear and let them worry about the rest.

Lets hope these cooler temps change things up and turns the fish on.

Wait till you hook a big one lol... that bass gear will get a primo test of durability! You should've seen JD's and FastEddie's rods when they hooked those toads last Saturday. Epic!

I've cracked the main gear teeth off of two spinning reels trying to force tog off the bottom on a jig. I won't use spinning gear on them anymore, i go with a heavy duty bait caster and a sensitive jigging rod with decent of backbone. I hold the line in my finger so i get as much sensitivity as you can get and can just winch them off the bottom a couple of feet into the 'safe zone'. These things are serious brute strength, no fish fights harder for the first few seconds of being hooked!
