Default Lobster Pots

Hoping to go catch some Mahi. Can someone let me know an area where lobster pots are that I should give a shot? Leaving from Highlands. Thanks!

The closest big concentration of pots is usually just east of The Farms on the west wall of the mudhole. It's about a 16 mile run from the tip of the hook.

We were at the mudhole today and stopped by several pots on the way home
Not much life around them.

Awesome, thanks for the help. I will run 50-60 miles each way if need be, just getting kind of bored catching sea bass! If I run east of the farms to those pots, has anyone caught mahi there? Last time I was out in the hudson canyon on the way back to Manasquan inlet we hit a bunch of pots (im talking 2 hours out) and the amount of mahi and I believe bar jacks were just insane around the pots. Water was crystal clear. Any and all insight is most appreciated!

August and Sept are the best months to look around inshore. Good water clarity and temps in the high 70's or better is what your looking for. Water temps look good the last satellite shot I saw but water is still dirty inshore and it does not clear up until you are near the Hudson Canyon.

If you haven't already you might look to subscribe to a satellite service like www.ripcharts.com. They give you access to both water temps and Chlorophyll and have a great mobile app you can use on your phone even out of cell range.
