Today was officially summer for me at the Valley as I got the first Rock Bass of the year and landed about 10 more of them on plastic worms that were bigger than them in most cases.
Left the house a little after 5 AM and a drizzle started as soon as I got down my street

And that turned into a nice shower by the time I got there. Waited it out in the parking lot for just a little bit and I got on the water just before 6 AM. No boats there when I arrived, and only 1 turned up around the time I launched which was beautiful. A lot more activity later on in the morning but I left around 9 AM before the real downpours started.
Landed a decent smallie, and I finally got some work in on the baitcaster with a largemouth on the day too. I hooked into another nice smallie which was the first fish hooked on my new set-up that's had a Keitech on there I've been playing around my last couple of trips with, but it got unbuttoned just as I was about to land it.
I love a rainy morning at Round Valley... at least when the temperature is warm.
