Default Good Friday Dead Sea

Went out for a short trip Friday from 2 - 6 PM and trolled stretches from Earle to Keansburg with out a touch. We probably didn't see a single mark on the screen or a Gannet until 5:00... Even then, the birds were hit and run an not committed to a specific area. We were going to stop and clam but never really saw any area that warranted the effort and we were short on time.

Still nice to be out on the water but as usual, my timing was off since it sounds like others did better in the morning and later in the day.

We headed in about 30 mins after you started. Trolled a stretch and white shad umbrella in back bay area. Had a stretch and white shad umbrella out, not a touch on the stretch but umbrella got us 4 hits up to 30" in the 2 hours we trolled.

I made my way out around 8am for the first trip of the year. Had my 10 year old daughter in and we fished hard till 3pm with nothing to show for it. Trolled everything in the bag all over and chucked some clams. Very few marks. From the looks of it very slow besides the regulars. Thanks to the guy at the ramp in the afternoon for giving me a hand since it was first time launching solo. Still a great day on the water with my oldest!!!

Makes me wonder if all of those clam diggers stirring up the bottom in that area are making the fish key in on clams and worms.

Fished early that day. Most of the bites were on the NY side.
