![]() I was on a non sponsor boat tuna fishing under Horrendous sea conditions. We were picking away but also losing some Jumbo YFT's due to the waves, swells, wind and swinging of the boat! I had a Jumbo on a jig and was playing ring around the corner with her. She was within 3 feet of getting the hook when the boat swung and she wasn't able to come back out. The mates eventually got her out by using another jig to hook my line and was hand lining her when she got her second wind and just ran a little. The braid just broke in Dave's hands. I truly wanted to cry. My only bite so far for 16+ hours at the rail.
This is where I want to give Capt Kenny of the Mimi VI a Big Thank You! I was told we were pulling the anchor and were taking over their slick since they were Limited out. OMG!!! They were just a short distance from us along with the BigJ. AS we were pulling up to them they were Bobbing up and down like a cork under those conditions! I also Love those Blue Transom Lights!!. As we were coming tight on the anchor I threw a jig out and was immediately on! It was a 30 lb LFT, Size didn't matter to me!! lol From then on we were getting 1-3 bites winning and losing some as usual. They were Big LFT's n YFT's!! It was starting to get late now and I Desperately wanted another bite so I said Fu**** it, I have caught 2 YFT's in my life using 30 fluro to get a bite but this time I had 40 ready for this purpose. I put on a sardine and flipped it out and within 30 feet from the boat it was Game on!! 45 minutes later thanks to Capt Jeff n mates Chris, Scotty, Dave n Mike keeping out of tangles and fellow fisherman giving me to room to fight her in the bow, a 80+/- YFT was on the deck. Thanks again guys!! |

![]() It's frustrating losing a fish close to the boat.Good job at staying at the rail under those conditions at least you put a couple in the boat

![]() Hey Dennis it was great fishing with you the other day. I was glad to see you got your fish. When Dave had your line in his hand I had to walk away. It was too painful to watch and I knew it wasn't going to end well. Ouch!
I think I figured out why my line broke on that fish. Over the summer twice I put the jig in the outrigger on my boat while chunking. Apparently after hours of bouncing up and down it will chafe the braid 100' in. That's about the depth I had it at. Duh! |
