Default GAMBLER-- Inshore Exotics and First Canyon Trip!!

The Gambler ran out for an exotics trip Monday morning. It was a rainy trip and although the forecast did not call for much wind, the seas were kind of rough. Capt Mike ran out 30 some miles in hopes of catching mahi-mahi but the lobster bouys were not holding fish. From there, he ran south to yellowfin lump and caught some albies and lots of mackerel.

The Gambler left for our first canyon trip of the season on that same night, returning Tuesday night. Conditions were great for drifting and we found a good, 3 degree temp break. Unfortunately, no one was home and we had no bites during the night. After day break, Captain Bob decided to go pot hopping and the action was great on big mahi up to 20lbs. Around 11AM, we spotted a few tuna breaking water and put it on a drift in that area but couldn't get them to bite. We were very thankful for the mahi but looking forward to the yellowfin to turn on. It does look like a nice peal of Gulfstream water heading our way but still to far out of range. Hopefully soon.

We are fishing for fluke the rest of the week, until the season for them closes on the 26th. If you plan to come down this weekend, get down early. If we get full, we may leave early.

Also, this is our last weekend for night wrecks (Thursday) and blues (Friday and Saturday).

After this weekend, the Gambler will be making back to back offshore trips --until we start stripers in November.

Dates are still available for tuna trips! Call Jill at 732-295-7569 to check availability, get questions answered or book a trip! Spots will go quick!!!
