Sucky Mudhole Mahi Fishing
A real nice day but fishing was not so good
Started trolling on the North West side of the Mudhole in dingy water without a touch.. Lots of pots but no life. Picked up and ran South East a found some cleaner water but I could not believe there wasn't a pot in site on the East ledge where we've seen pots almost every trip out. Had there been I think we would have done OK... We blind trolled the edge and the slope into the deep and nothing. Picked up the lines and ran back to the west side where we had all the pots and did some pot hopping. We had 3 or 4 rats about the size of cocktails blues that were not even worth keeping. Saw a lot of turtles this trip and for some reason all their shells were covered with barnacles. Oh well... nice day to be out on the water... A little bumpy in the AM but flat as glass in the afternoon and for the ride home.

Re: Sucky Mudhole Mahi Fishing
Been really dirty water out there for a couple of weeks. Good temps for fishing but bad water. Anyone have a reason for it? Have not seen any satellite reports of offshore storms

Re: Sucky Mudhole Mahi Fishing
This from www.ripcharts.com
RipCharts is capturing some nice satellite imagery of the Northeastern USA. As you can see here, there is a large chlorophyll bloom occurring off of New Jersey, indicated by the dirty water on the true color and chlorophyll maps.

Re: Sucky Mudhole Mahi Fishing
PS water temps varied between 81 and 82 so plenty warm.
