Are you going to be fishing by boat or from shore? Lake Flower right in town is loaded with pike and bass. Spinnerbaits, Shallow Diving Crankbaits, and Topwaters over all the weeds should do the trick. You can fish the entire shoreline along River Street, or you can launch a boat and ride into Oseetah, although I've never gone that far down and I've just stayed right in town. Great place to explore as there's plenty of fish to be caught. Good luck!

I kindly agree with CabesaRoja. Saranac is huge and might take time to figure out! Lake Flower is a good bet for some solid action!

I've stayed on upper and lower Saranac, probably about ten times combined. If you have a boat available, I would recommend drifting live minnows over the submerged rocks away from the shore. The smallmouth action is typically good. These areas are clearly marked given they are a navigation hazard.

Minnows can be had at the Blue Line sports shop in town. Be sure to keep your bait receipt.

If no boat available let me know.

Dave

Oseetah is one of the best pike lakes in NYS. It can be reached by kayak or you can rent a boat from Swiss Marine. From here, if you have a boat, you can go up locks to several other lakes. Kiwassa is accessible by a channel from Oseetah as well and is productive for pike, smallmouth bass, and largemouth bass. There are walleye there too.

Middle Saranac is very good for both smallmouth bass and pike.

But, I highly recommend that you bring a canoe or kayak. There are tons of ponds with almost every species imaginable. The trout ponds are productive all year and hold a great variety of species including brown, rainbow, lake trout, splake, landlocked salmon, and brook trout.

Other ponds hold warm water fish and fisheries exist for smallmouth bass, pike, and walleye. In fact, Franklin Falls Flow or Union Falls Flow hold good numbers of all three species.

Shoot me a PM if you want any specific ponds. I've been vacationing in that area for 20 years.

It is a fisherman's paradise.
