Default Cape May Surf Question.....

Will be staying at a place on Beach Ave few nights next week. Looking for a place for the kids to surf fish. Was thinking the jetty at the end of Beach Ave next to the hotel.

Anyone been down lately and have any reports? Thinking kingfish/croaker/spot?
Just something to keep them occupied.

Also any info on surf sharking at night? Heard of big browns and dusky after dark, just never did it and wonder if its a good time of year yet?

Thanks.

Call Jim's Bait and and Tackle(609-884-3900) and talk to Bobby. He'll fill you in as to what's best for the kids. I like to fish the Bay side, but I don't know what's biting there now....good luck

Head down to cape may point. Clams will get you all the skates and smooth doggies you want which my 5 year old grandson enjoys. or small jig heads with gulp and light spinning gear jigged along side the jettys will get you fluke, small blues and possibly a weaky. Sabiki rig around the jettys also will produce some herring, small blues and small weakies. Bunker chunks at night will get you into some sand tigers (some can get pretty big). Floating or high low rig blood worms can get you into some small stripers, weakies, croaker and kings. Tight Lines and Fair Winds

Been doing a fair amount of beach jumping in the area.. Some big sharkies around for sure.... Kingfish out the wazoo most days if you know where some hot spots are.. A few... Few fluke in the surf.. Same with weaks small to medium blues and the stragglers with the stripes.. Most of the obvious area will produce at least something right now.
