LBI - Day Seven - 7/8/16 - Family Trip

Well woke up this morning at 5 and felt like sh!t so i decided not to go out on the first trip. Went back to bed and woke up at 1030. Felt better so figured we would go fishing for the second trip. And out of the blue my MOM and Sister say they want to come! So we all packed into the truck and headed to the dock. Boat got in at 12 with what looked like a good crowd. They all got off and we got our stuff aboard. I looked into the bucket they throw the racks in and there was 3 sea bass. Asked Ryan and he said it was so bad. No drift at all and mostly all rental rods. Ton of skates to make it even worse. He said the wind started to come on as they were heading in so should be a drift. We break the inlet at 1pm and head down the beach. I get my moms and sisters rods all set up and ready to fish. Will honks the horn and we all drop down. Dad and I hook up right off the bat with Molly following. Mom hooked up but dropped it. Get our fish to the boat and they are all short so we throw em back and drop back in. For the first few drifts we had a perfect drift. Fishing with 2oz and holding good. Wind started to pick up and we all went to 3oz then to 4oz. Will moved around a few times and at each spot we got some shorts. I drop down one time and get hit and set the hook and reel in a nice 19incher. Dad drops down and hammered and gets the fish to the boat and lands a nice 22incher. Then dad gets one more keeper right at 18inch. My sister and mom didnt get any keepers but they kept busy with shorts. They got a lot of em too. Wind starts to pick up big time and the ocean gets a little angry. A storm started to roll in as we were about done with the trip. Raining and wind ripping. We headed for cover and Will made the call to head in a little early.

So we ended the day with the 3 keepers. But was a great day with the whole family. We all stopped at Off the Hook for dinner then headed home.

We get home and we get a call that a twister went down our road back at our house!!! Trees down everywhere and power lines ripped down. One of the people next door to us got a tree on their house and car. They said our house if fine. They walked around it. Just have some big branches that came down in the yard. My sister is heading home tonight so she will double check on the house.

Also on one of my custom bogan rods the glue on the tip must have gotten soft or whatever but i was able to spin the tip around. So i took it over to the tackle shop in ship bottom and they epoxied it for me. Good as new

Oh yeah I forgot. Dad got sh!t on not once, not twice, but three times!!!
