Default FISHERMEN/ Thursdays fishing report..

Nice drift in the AM, banged away on some quality fish including today's pool fish that went 7.8 pounds. Bait has been working better the past couple day's as the rod rental customers have landed 3 and 4 keepers dragging bait. Buck-tail guys have been struggling so far as they are one tough Breed!!

Not seeing many Short fish...if you look back at the post's from a couple of years ago we always talked about the ratio of 15 to 1, shorts to keepers. We don't have that Short action which kinda scares me at this point in time.
Can't keep taking the Females, but the scientist say different! Go figure.

Back at it tomorrow...Capt. Ron

Had the same thought Ron,two of us had 8keepers on wed. Five shorts and not one of them was less than 16.5. And why are all the fish in the channel so early?

That's where all the bait is Toghead...I've covered both sides of the channel up and down outside in the shallow's and haven't read anything! Go in the deep and the fish finder goes nuts!
Fluke are major predators and normally would lay on the edges and drop offs waiting to strike at a meal, not this year. You could power drift your ass off up and down the edge and catch next to nothing.....Seems we have to reinvent everything we've done over the years to stay in the game! It's what makes us good fishermen when all is said and done. Where there's Bait, there's fish...Now, just hope they bite! Fish Hard and prosper, don't be afraid to try something new even if you think it's wrong, you never know!!
Capt. Ron

i think the magority of short fluke are in shallow and tight to the beaches. fishing the channel (deeper water) should hold bigger fluke. remember it's still early in the season. just my 2 cents
