Mushin 293 lb mako 6/16

6/11/16 Captain Alan and Captain Chad along with mates Creature and John the locksmith had a fun crew trip with Terry Kevin and special guest Jim Hutchenson - sorry if I spelt your last name wrong - from the fisherman magazine aboard for what was supposed to be our mako mania all star crew! We had planned on fishing both days but the weather was not going to let that happen. We were all dressed up and ready to go. So that's what we did we went ! We left the dock around midnight and took our time heading out. We started fishing in the dark had one blue dog and some bluefish in the slick and that was it for a wile. Capt Alan made a few moves and once the wind started to pick up it was game on with sharks coming left and right unfortunately not the species we were looking for. Right before we were about to call it a day .. there it was! A beautiful mako in the slick! Rod goes screaming off and towards the bow he goes ! Around the boat then under the boat! We managed to get it under control and bam! Two gaffs in the head and it was game over ! Ended up weighing out at 293 lbs. High fives all around and a fish story to tell for quite some time ! We'll be back at it next week weather permitting! Thanks guys!

Great fish!! Great story!! Some good eats too! I knew a scalloper who traded for mako, not pound for pound of course, but he loved it so much.
