Default Fluke fishng nothing to write home about

At least not in the Navesink or Schrewsbury Rivers. Spent five or 6 hrs. on Monday, high to low tide for only a half dozen fish with only one keeper at 26 inches. Shorts were 16 in to 17 3/4, nice plump fish, but shorts non the less. Only used Gulps and a piece of Sea Robin belly for bait. Water temps were low, 66 in most of the Navesink and 61 in the lower Schrewsbury, hopefully this hot weather coming will put them on the feed.

Yeah my first trip out I got 10 shorts and 1 keeper. Had the action by catching on each drift but nothing wild. Fished all gulp no bait. It will only get better. The water is still on the cold side. Should warm up soon

Sounds like a slow day . But at 26" that fish was approx. 6lbs . Also it is only May , and 66deg. is not that cold , it will get warmer and better .
