![]() It's been a great start our offshore season with our first big-eye, and our first sword plus double digit big bluefin from 65” to 101” inches. We killed 7 and released just as many. But what got Capt. Deane Lambros and crew most excited, and me as well, was the fact that we already chunked our first big-eye (along with the 101” giant bluefin) this week on one trip then immediately followed that up with a limit of giants - 3 fish from 85" to 95" – plus a very nice swordfish. Most of these fish have been caught drifting and chunking and not on the green stick so it’s something any boat can participate in and if you have your boat down there it’s worth the trip.
By the way, this marks the earliest we caught a big-eye and a sword in all the 34 years we've been taking folks offshore. Fishing out of Oregon Inlet we got in 4 trips so far and have enjoyed relatively good weather, a good inlet, and good friends out on the grounds. Hopefully we continue to get lucky and finish out our NC season fishing right up until March 31 before moving up the beach to NJ the first week of April. Once we get up to New Jersey, by the look of the offshore water temperature charts it looks like it might be a very early canyon season as an eddy already formed to the east and could be within reach in a month or so. Plus there's some water bubbling up from the south that hopefully breaks off into an eddy even sooner. Only time will tell but get ready! FYI - we've got a couple videos of the fishing we've been doing these last couple weeks on our Facebook page so take a look if you have a chance. ************************************ With respect to the 2016 Canyon Season – please note - We Are Almost Sold Out YOU MUST BOOK NOW – IF YOU WANT TO SECURE A DATE WITH US 60' Canyon Runner - Only 7 Days Left Until September 48' Canyon Runner - Only 9 Dates Left Until September This post is basically a heads-up and warning to you folks that haven't booked anything with us yet for the 2016 canyon season.
