Default Puerto Rico charter recommendations?

We will be visiting Puerto Rico late March and are interested in a fishing charter. Will be staying on East side of island, close to Fajardo. Anyone have a recommendation of inshore/offshore charter service? Also, what to expect this time of year? What species are most abundant in March?

Any info appreciated.

Rick

I've heard certain spots inshore are practically polluted with Tarpon. Not sure about the time of year and the area you'll be staying in, but of if it's the right time of year and the Tarpon around, that would be my target.

Capt Juan Carlos http://extremefishingpr.com/

Me and my pop went out with him, my pop landed a 185# tarpon. Amazing time!

Luis Iglesias aka "Church" . Honest guy from Puerto Rico. He went to Ohio State and speaks perfect English. I think he is out of Fajardo. I worked as mate in PR for a few years. The offshore fishing is usually trolling a spread hoping for mahi, wahoo, tuna, or marlin. King Mackerel occasionally. You could get a really big fish or nothing.

In Shore reefs lots of yellowtail snappers, mutton snapper, sometimes a snook, and too many barracuda.

Tarpon are in the lagoons. Never got a chance to try that.

Enjoy.

Check out http://www.caribbeanedge.com/puerto_...utfitters.html
I fished with Omar and it was awesome. Caught 12 tarpon and missed a bunch in 3 hrs plus a snook I fished with him in the summer so all the tarpon were smaller 40 to 90 lbs March the bigger fish supposedly move in and Lot of fish over 200 lbs come in to spawn.
If your flexible let him pick the day and time because they are tide sensitive and he can pick the window that will be best.
I fished a lot on vacation and most of them have been disappointing tourist traps this was truly amazing

Thanks for all the advice. Most of the mentioned charters are out of San Juan, which is almost an hour away for us. I'd prefer to use someone local. Thinking of this one www.787fishing.com. Benefit is he does both inshore and offshore, we can book a charter and decide the day before depending on weather and reports if we do inshore or offshore. Bringing the kids so will not go offshore unless ocean is flat.
