Reel Class Sunday 11/8 Bass to 40# and Blues to 22#!!
Had Anthony and crew on the boat today for a bass trip.
Ran back to where we had the fish yesterday only to find the area basically devoid of life with the exception of a few marks and some very scattered bunker. Ran around way too long looking to snag, and got the spoons in a bit too late as a few boats did well but by the time we got them in we missed it.
We then ran up the line where we heard there were bunker and some fish - found the bunker, but no fish. Back to trolling a bit further up we were able to get our first bass a nice 35" er followed by some blues. After about a half hour more of that - THAT died so we went back in on the bunker and Capt Rick was able to pluck a beautiful 44"/26" girth (!!) 40# bass on a livie, but that was it.
Around noon time we got word of a little jig bite further up, so we went, and found loads of short bass and a couple right at the mark on shads and jigs - lots of birds and fish on top but it didn't last w/ the boat traffic. We then trolled through the area and only had more blues - one more shot around 1:30 with the jigs and shads produced more short bass.
Finally on the way home we found some bunker being blown up, got our snags on, and found loads of ALLIGATOR sized bluefish tearing through the bunker. Once you put a bunker in it was inhaled by a 15-20# bluefish.
Called it a day at 3 - kept a box full of the bluefish for the "fishin for the cause" food pantry drive at Clark's and some for the guys - also had a few nice bass for the guys to take home to put on the grill. Not enough though! Great day action wise - it seems like the ocean is coming back to life after Saturday's dud. Back at it next weekend!
