Jumping walleye! 10/20/15
Restless again at 10 pm, I got dressed and hit the river. Beautiful night out, crisp air, clear water... leaves seemingly washed downstream already. I threw the usual soft plastics, various colors and sizes...nada. Not a sniff! Spotted quite a few fish cruising around and hunkered down in some boulders, but no takers... window shoppers!
Switched to a gold storm thunderstick as a last ditch effort and was hurling that SOB all over the place. Was getting follows but no takers. Moved down stream and was tossing the plug through some fast stuff when whammo! This sumbitch went airborne wrecking my plug. Never had such a violent strike from a walleye before! She fought like the dickens too! Got the fish in and she was angry. Gills flared, dorsal standing straight up and full of piss and vinegar...sweet. Snapped a few quick shots and gently laid her in water. She bolted, kicking her tail and drenching me. Awesome. Left shortly after... cold with a smile and smell of fish on my hands. Perfect night cap... here's the fish. Didn't measure. Prob 23" range and getting fat!
