Default Fall Trout Stocking

Fall trout stocking begins next Tuesday, October 13. Approximately 20,000 Rainbow Trout, averaging 14 to 22 inches in length, will be stocked throughout the state. During the first week, 16 streams and rivers in northern and coastal areas will be stocked; during the second week, 15 ponds and lakes in the central and southern portions of the state will be stocked.

For more information, view the NJDEP news release at http://www.nj.gov/dep/newsrel/2015/15_0087.htm.
To view the stocking schedule, go to http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/flstk15.htm on the Division of Fish and Wildlife website. There are no closed days during the fall stocking period.

This is 20,000 big fish, not 570,000 little ones. They can't stock as many places, but they do try to put at least one stocking locaton within a reasonable driving distance for all NJ anglers.

Rivers will be low just like last year. Large fish will be stocked in tiny holes. Colonial Park and Roosevelt Park are definitely the nasty duck ponds you want to target and score big trout before they succumb to duck poop poisoning.
Said it before and I'll say it again, these are large fish that do not need to eat right away. 1st week of November will be the time to catch these fish after all the leaves are gone, that is if the guys with snagging hooks leave anything behind.

I swing by Roosevelt park ponds for this some years. The cormorants take most of the fish. The fountains in the center of the lake are off and no kidding there will be 50 cormorants standing in the concrete pads waiting there stocking day

Andy you are correct about Colonial Park but it isn't listed on the fall stocking. Colonial Lake is but that isn't in Colonial Park.

Anyone know if they are planning on stocking this week with the rives as low as they currently are? I was out Sat. and the SB was in rough shape.
