Default Salmon river 9/19-9/20

Made the trip up for two days. Fished right above town most of the time. Saturday morning had the most action . People were hooking up around us pretty often. My dad hooked 8 landed 3. I hooked two and landed one. The action slowed mid day. Next day was slower, moved around alittle but only hooked acouple each. Alot of people and hopefully it gets better soon.

Nice job for an early run up! It looks like at least 2 of the 3 kings are wild fish, the 2 on the right. Can't tell on the 1 beside the coho though. Did all 3 kings have their adipose? The past 5-10 years have seen a steady increase in the volume of natural reproduction in both kings and coho as well as browns and steelies. Now if they could just have better success with the LL atlantics...
BTW, I see you were fishing just above one of my personal fave areas. Nice piece of water there but it gets crowded as hell in another couple of weeks.

Beautiful fish, especially the coho. Did you see any steel or brown trout caught? Great when the fish are still silver or just turning. When they're that fresh the energy they have is insane. Just read something about natural reproduction in the Salmon River for Kings. Numbers are pretty impressive, in the millions if I'm not mistaken. Good to see a fishery which has that size natural reproduction.

Great report and congratulations on your catch. Best part is you were with your dad on the river, some of the best memories you'll have in your lifetime!

Thanks I heard of a 12lb brown caught just above me. Seen one steelhead landed and one hooked. Also one of the fish I hooked was silver not sure if it was a steel or coho.
