![]() Hey guys, I know this has been discussed at length in past threads but any tips would be great. I'll be in Cabo Nov 20-23. I'm staying in San Jose del Cabo. Should i take the ride into Cabo San Lucas and pick up a charter from the marina there or should I stay in SJD? Looking at half day trips since some of us don't have our "sea legs" and wouldn't do well on an all day trip. Any tips and advice would be helpful.
Thanks! |

![]() Hit up Victor Santi in Cabo San Lucas. His english is very good and he's a great captain to boot. In Cabo if you get on a boat you need to pay for a fishing license, it's not a scam. The captain will take you by the coast guard before you head out of port and you pay the coast guard. You will expect to pay $2-3 per piece of large sardine live bait, cheaper for the small baits. Or you can throw artificials.

I've fished out of San Jose for many years and have had Amazing results each time. No need to drive to cabo San Lucas unless the bite is there, which, during your travel window....it isn't. The bite is usually on/near gordo bank then, and that's like fishing at the Klondike from squan. Reach out and I'll give you the contacts and details Capt JJ |

![]() We fished out of Cabo in October and it was a relatively short ride to the fishing grounds, maybe a half hour... Bottom drops off quick there as soon as you leave the harbor. The Sea of Cortes side was practically polluted with Striped Marlin in Oct.
Not sure about SJ so can't comment. One thing is for sure...It's a fishing Mecca down there so you are in for a treat!! We had 2 charters and jumped 3 on one and 1 on another and saw many more we couldn't get to bite. Unlike other places in Mexico, Cabo has some top notch people and boats to choose from so as long as you do your homework, you're not going to be taken for just a boat ride.
