Re: Costa Rico Vacation
I went to Los Suenos for the first time this past year. I enjoyed it, lots to do other than just fishing. Having choices in restaurants, shops, wildlife excursions etc is a big plus over the fishing camps. The marina is worth the trip alone. Have a few good names and a buddy who books trips there if you have any interest. He will meet with you and give a full presentation. If you take the morning flight from Newark, you will be in the pool of your condo or hotel by 1pm.
I was also in Quepos years ago before it got built up. I have heard many good things about that area as well. I usually travel once a year to Panama or Costa Rica with my dad but we usually stay at one of the fishing camps. |

Re: Costa Rico Vacation
We were there a few years ago and had the time of our lives. We stayed at a bed & breakfast called Mango Moon in Quepos. We chose the b&b for a more local and cultural experience over a commercialized resort feel. They reserved the car service and other outdoor adventures while there.
As far as fishing, I was going to book a charter until I overheard a new boat owner speaking with his mates at a local dive bar. I introduced myself and they invited me to be thier first charter the next day. The owner only asked me to tip his mates. We fished inshore and lost 2 Roosters between Quepos and Panama which is near by. The boat was called Hi-Tec and I had no complaints as I was not charged for the trip. We can't wait to go back. The food/drink is phenominal and very affordable. Good luck and have fun. |

Re: Costa Rico Vacation
I went to quepos back in March with my dad. Fished 2 days offshore and 1 day inshore. Inshore was sorta a bust losing 1 rooster for the day but offshore we Landed 13 out of 16 sails and I got a 30lb yellowfin. Awesome time and I even got to swim with one of the sailfish. If you choose quepos you have to fly into San Jose and then either drive 3 plus hours or take a 20min flight in a little dingy. We choose the flight. (Also I hear the 3 hour bus ride is pretty dangerous as far as thin roads with large drops ) fished on GOOD DAY. Great captain and great mates. Mates even took us out drinking in the village at their sons bar. Great time, awesome memories and I will definitely be back
Good luck Sam |

Re: Costa Rico Vacation
I've been to CR roughly a dozen times over the years. Stayed in many different locations, Carrillo, Nosara, Quepos, Jaco, & Playa Zancudo. Each has different things to offer. If you find yourself looking at any of these locations feel free to Msg. me with any questions and I will try to answer what I can.
