Reel Class Tuesday 8/18 Fluke to 8#
Had Bob and crew on board today for another fluke trip.
For most of the morning we had good conditions with a manageable drift where we didn't need 12 + oz. to hold in the south wind. When we had the right conditions, the fish chewed good for us. Lots of shorts, but the occasional keeper kept things interesting. By around noon time though, the drift got fast and the bite again shut down. Again we were using 12-14 oz. of lead just to keep the baits down.
Again today we had some nice fish. Nicole had a beautiful 27.5"/8# fluke, and Bob had a nice fish of 6#, as well as several others over 20".
For the day, we wound up with only 9 keepers and around 40 shorts. Not bad fishing, still not what we'd like to see for this time of year.
