Weekend report
So finally feeling like I am burning out a bit.
From last week I been out last 7 out of the 9 days and paying the price for it. Still worth every lost hour of sleep. Saturday hit up Spruce for some quick action before heading to Delaware River. Nothing was to be found for me in the heat of the sun besides a buzz. With my bottle almost gone I snuggled up right next to a beauty of the rock while my friend managed to do all the fishing for me. He landed 3 channels and on that we called it a day and moved to cooler waters. Got to the big D around 6pm and proceeded with catching some bait for the night. Half an hour later and bucket full of sunnies we set up for the night. First flat head did not take long to hit. I barely heard my line spooling out and hooked the fish relatively easy. Made a short work of the bastard and had first 5 pounder of the night in no time. Then a waiting game. Had the fire going, liquor flowing and bbg to add some needed nourishments to my body. By midnight was already passing out again so curled up on the rock to catch some shot eye. And of course the rookie mistake happened. Around 3 am my friend alerts me to my rod going off. And by going off I mean going of. Of the damn rock and into the water. Gone. Forgot to leave my reel open. Dammit. Night was filled with the most colorful language I could thing of in both English and Russian. Having a general idea where it went in a water we began the search. Ahh ....here it is 12 feet down. Dammit. Well nothing would wake me up like a nice night swim so off in a water I go. With a dive in a water that would make an Olympian proud got the rod, back to the rocks and time to bring in my bounty that was still on. A nice 10 pounder was brought to shore and that was the night for flatheads. Waited on Sunday for Eddie to show up while taking a drive on the wild side to get some bait. Eddie shows up and grabs my super lucky rod while I am fishing for bait to prove a point. First cast and of course he just gets to catch a smallie while I was just pulling some sunnies. darn it. Bit later he had to prove his point once again and show me that there are some eyes to be had in the heat of the day. Love that maniac. Around 3 called it a day and had to leave him dealing the jetski yahoos. Great weekend, great fishing, great time meeting bunch of new people all over. Fish on my friends, fish on. Andre |

Re: Weekend report
.
Another full weekend Andre. I was at Spruce Run on Saturday and I figured you were probably fishing the shoreline that evening. So after I loaded up my 'yak, I decided to take a walk along the shoreline. I thought I would just walk along and say "Hi" to everyone and when I found a Russian guy with a bottle of whiskey, that would be you. I was surprised to see at least ten different groups of people fishing in the dark along that one stretch of shoreline between the ramp and the roadside parking lot. The first group of people were so startled to have someone walk up on them that I began to feel really uncomfortable and just abandoned my plan of seeing if you were there that night. .

Re: Weekend report
Andre, good to see you and your buddy at the spot giving it hell. When I walked down there it looked like this crew brought the kitchen with them, grills, coffee pots, utensils and a fire still smoldering. Sure signs of a devoted fishermen.
Man was it hot out there yesterday, sun was strong and the blue bird skies weren't helping. The wave runners and kayakers were all over the place stirring up the water. After this crew left I managed to get 2 more small Walleye, 1 @ 12 inches and another bigger short @ 15 inches. It got quiet and finally got a pair of Cats as well but nothing big. Ahhhhhhhh, small fish Sunday. It happens! Final tally for me, 1 Smallie on Andres rod, 3 short Walleye in between the wave runners and swimmers, 1 Channel, 1 Flathead maybe 4-5 lbs. Andre, never a dull moment! Flying fishing poles! Flying diving Russians! Holy cow! Who's on your side? Can't believe you got your rod back. Lucky guy. See you MANIACS out there.

Re: Weekend report
So in the dark, you dove 12 feet down into the Delaware, got back a rod that still had a fish on it and made it back up on the rocks and landed the fish...

Re: Weekend report
Andre, I forgot to mention that 2 of the wave runners broke down after you left. 1 was smoking like a chimney and the other ran out of gas. The yellow wave runner had to tow the other 2 back, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
TIGHT LINEZ BUDDY!!! Who says Invasive Flatheads don't bite during the day???

Re: Weekend report
Good, good
I do not wish ill on no one but they had it coming. I understand I have to share the waters with different folks, but can not feel sorry for people who act like a-holes. Sincerely |
