Default Quick smallie trip 8/9/15

I had the urge to try for some river smallies, so I made the trip up to the North Branch in the evening. I started at the lower end of North Branch Park and waded down to the Route 202 bridge. I hooked up with four smallies, including a nice 1+ pounder below the dam. Saw an absolute beast under the bridge, at least a 4 pounder, but she didn't want anything to do with me. Water was super low, but clear and clean.

Love fishing that river for smallies. Definitely my favorite river to fish. I must fish a different area of the river than you're in because I didn't recognize any of the areas you were fishing. I fish upstream from the park and i usually do really well. I usually fish with small (2.5") tubes unless i catch some crayfish.

Did a YAK float trip from POND EDDY down to MATAMORAS SATURDAY.
Smallmouths & walleyes until my arms wore out. All from 1-2.5 lbs jigging from the bottom in the eddies for the eyes & trolling diving plugs between eddies for the sm.

Had a giant sm following my plug playing with the lure in 2 feet of water but could not get it to strike....I think it though it was a musky because it sure acted like one teasing me (my guess a female!). It had to be 5 pounds plus.

Great water clarity & action non-stop. Nothing like a day out the big D... get there soon if you can.
