Party Boat angler Thursday Fluking
Conditions were tough to start the day. Actually we had fish right away as we caught slack tide by leaving at 7AM but the incoming tide slowed the drift. When we have to power drift to get any motion the people in the front or the back have an advantage as they get to the fish first depending on the drift, When it is a square drift and the lines lead off the side those fishing under the boat get first crack at the fluke. With no or a very slow drift the casters do best. For most of today it was a slow pick with an average of 5 keepers per drift. At the end of the day the conditions got better and we had a square drift. We stayed a little late and had 25 keepers for our last 3 drifts. A number of guys had 4 keepers.
Bob Connell from Hazlet had a 6 1/2 pound pool fish. Big Mike was a very close 2nd with a fish on the last drift.
7:00 AM sailing first boat out.
