Default Skunked at Spruce

I struck out last night at Spruce Run. I hit the water around 7:30 PM and gave it a go until about 1AM. Nothing was interested in what I had to offer. I fished from the power line area and worked my way back north along the western shoreline and coves. Fished from the banks down to about 15 ft of water. I threw deep cranks, a t-rigged ribbon tail worm, Spooks, a prop bait, a buzz bait, a swing impact swimbait, and a C-Rig with a Ring Fry on it. No go on anything. The only thing I didn't try was a spinner bait and jigs. Maybe next time.

I fished Saturday morn and a half hour in the skies broke open w torrential downpours and lightning, the strobes lit up and park rangers came to get everyone off the water. I almost left and waited it out for nearly an hour and then pumped the boat dry and went back at it. So glad I did had the best day on spruce ever, 20 hybrids, 4 LMB, a SM, a channel cat, and a crappie. The hybrids were busting on bait for nearly an hour I got 4 casting topwater to them. Crazy how a day can change all that, I suggest grabbing some herring next time and throw to the shallows livelining or downlining while you cast a 2nd rod, everything in there eats bait

Jimmy,

Don't know Saturday afternoon was not kind to me. But us bank guys have to work hard for every fish we get.

At least discovered more places for me to drop the lines that have a potential for something big and toothy to come out from them.

Andre

Nice getting them on top during the light hours. I went Thursday night till 8am Friday getting only 1 of 3 hybrids to the kayak on top waters. Once the sun came up I only caught 1 small largemouth.

I was also at Spruce Saturday afternoon. Didnt see any topwater action but landed one hybrid trolling herring. Really fun on the kayak

That's a cool pic.

Dale told me you whacked em pretty good jimmy. That's sick. The night thing seems to be winding down. Those of you still doing it, keep swapping lures until you find the magic one. I've been throwing one lure and one lure only this season
