Default Any good spots for saltwater fishing ( surf ) in NJ?

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know a good fishing spot in NJ?

I just started fishing this summer and haven't had much luck.

I've been to the Keansburg pier, Sandy Hook beach, Manasquan Inlet and Bradshaw beach by Pt. Pleasant but have only caught sea robins, lots of stingrays and a shark.

I would love to find a good place for fishing from the surf.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations

Sincerely,
T.

In my experience surf fishing is very hit or miss. One area could hot one day then nothing the next. One spot on the beach could catch several fish one day where guys 50ft away get skunked. Best advice of keeping, learn the read the surf looking for the different troughs outside the break and keep learning.

What Delaware said..... Go out to your beach of choice a low tide and look breaks in the sand bars and this is where you are going to fish, especially during a falling ride. The break in the bar acts like a funnel for the bait fish and larger fish will be there looking for the easy meals.

If your more into plugging then this sort of fishing is way more about being in the right place at the right time when a blitz occurs within casting distance. Drive around stop and take a look and if nothing is happening, move on.

As usual, I walk and fish Sandy Hook every Saturday..Some days are good and some not so good. Yesterday was not good since the top guide broke, and spent time just walking & looking. Spotted a large school of bunker being chased by Dolphin in the am and again going south in the pm...that is what it is all about. Just enjoying and sometimes catching and other times not...see 'ya all later, Robbie.

Atlantic Bait/tackle fixed the guide on my way home and it was really appreciated...THANK YOU!!!
