Default Saturday, Aug. 22nd Fluking on the Fish Monger

Hey Kiddies!

(Disclaimer...no dolphins, sea horses, keeper fluke, or even GDubya, were harmed in the making of this charter)

So, before I begin the report....shhhhhhhhhhhh...for all of you here who follow the exploits of Capt. Jerry and the Monger, I successfully stole the numbers where Capt. Jerry took us this morning with my new StealAllGPSNumbers app on my Iphone and Im sharing them with all of you here before Jerry has this post pulled....ready? Grab your pens and paper:

69-711-911-666-0U812

68I0U1-CBGBOMFUG

1isthelonliestnumber

777-777-7777 (we did not catch any fish here but we DID have a car show up for us at the dock)

Started the day with a group that included Rubber Band Pete, Capt. Bill, Mugger Chris, GDubs, two new comers (Johhny 6 Strings, and Larry Backmaster), and another John, another George, and another Larry.

Had $10,000 in new Fluke rods and reels on the boat, as well as $6000
worth of gulp and jigs.

Headed out at 0600 hours and went straight for the bank named after a famous ice cream bar (shhhh....cremesickle bank)....lines in.....nada. Made a couple drifts....bounced around and then ran to another bank (Capital One....I forgot my cash to pay Capt. Jerry so we made a quick detour).....drifted at approx. 1.7 knots so we decided to troll for fluke, a new technique perfected here first on the Monger....we were dragging chartreuse 8 ounce Spros tipped in blue and white Joe Shutes, and rainbow spreader bars tipped with new penny gulp. First couple lines in and "WHAMMO!", both rods are bent over and after John the Mate carefully got us in our harnesses and tuna belts, the first of several dozen 12 to 14 inch, Big eye fluke emerged after long, drawn-out battles.

Yes, kiddies....we trolled for fluke most of the day as the NOAA-reported diminishing winds never diminished.....and the expected 2-3 foot waves with 7 second intervals did, indeed, show up at about 3:00pm, after 9 consecutive hours of 4-6 foot waves with occasional 8's thrown in for good measure.

Yes.

Wonderful trip.

I caught 17 imaginary keeper fluke, only keeping my imaginary limit, while carefully releasing the rest of these imaginary fish to swim again for the next charter lead by a certain Capt. with two similar initials,(JJ) who only swallowed one tab of acid this morning to help create those imaginary keeper fluke (one of which weighed in at 16 pounds on his imaginary scale)

Todays Tip: Tabs of Acid = Great fluke trips whether you catch fish or not!

Total count for the day of non-imaginary fish = 4, 3 of which were caught by Larry Back Master and Johnny 6 Strings, and the pool winner lifted by, of course, Capt. Bill!

Capt. Jelly took us everywhere because as other captains have reminded him, "Its a Biiiiiiiiiig ocean, Capt. Jelly!"

John the mate did his usual excellent job....fileting and bagging the keepers in a record time of three minutes.

I did not lose a single jig (hard to do when 14 ounces doesnt hold bottom)....

Capt. Jelly did not smoke a single cigarette....

WE missed GDubs, who vanished about half way through the trip and did not re-appear until said, aforementioned, NOAA's finally diminished.

All I can say is: Cant wait for Tog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mahalo!

Capt. JJ

I want to thank Capt JJ for his stellar report and recap of the days events.

My day started off worse than usual , I got seasick and I have been in much worse conditions but for what ever reason today was my day, happens every once in a while.I was friggin miserable and the fishing was about the same. Capt. Jelly states we are starting out with 6 and 8 oz. spro's I said your kidding and he wasn't ( I haven't fished with 6's in years) . 6's dont work going under the boat when the current is ripping from the flemish cap ..FYI. Finally at the end of the day everything started to calm down ( even my stomach ) and we tried fishing a couple of known areas that you should get bites and nothing. These are the secret numbers everyone is welcome to (8675309-Jenny and OU812O) the swell that came up in the morning just shut everything down and we threw everything we had with poor results
Best part of the day was the 2 new guys who really dont fish catch 3 out of 4 keepers for the boat with guys who have thousands of dollars worth of stuff get well un-gotz, that is ooooon-gotz. The second best part of my day well I decided to eat something figuring it might help, I go into my cooler and pickup the bag ,I look in it and I grabbed the wrong bag from home, I grabbed the bag with the loaf of bread in it , NOT THE BAG I HAD MY SANDWICHES IN. Friggin Googan but looking back I couldn't have ate anything regardless but that is when I said , yuppers that about sums up my day right there - No Mas

As for myself I stayed at the rail except for 1 drift and never threw up, I should have and would have felt much better but chewed threw it literally. It wasn't that I was gone all day you just couldn't hear me( you know there is something wrong when I don't talk and I was quiet all day).Thank you Capt. Phil for the spermint gum , it helped tremedously and helped me get threw the trip. BTW always have some spearmint gum, tums and acid redusers just in case , I used them all on this day.

I was extremely impressed at Capt. Jelly for not blowing his stack, staying calm and not showing his true inner Hank. Very proud of you sir and wish you controlled the ocean and mother nature. You are truly getting better with all those self help tapes or how about the dianeticts/sciencetology online courses and lets not forget the full contact hyram yog that is finally paying dividends. John the mate thank you for everything and I owe you big time- and sorry again

Worst trip I had due to inner gooan-sea-sickness, mother nature and sucking to the umpth degree, BTW I got like 7 shorts biggest going to 17 inches and back at it next week.I have the following week off so lets see what kind of damage I can really do without getting sea sick and maybe catch some suicidal flukies

Be Well - Be Safe and Fish On
