On Friday we had Mike and a couple of his buddies out to bend some rods with the blues and bass. It didn't take long to get the dialed in on the blues, but after a few hours the action died off and we decided to switch gears and break out the trolling gear. Most of our bass have been caught on the troll lately so I figured it would be our best chance of getting something with stripes in the boat. WRONG. We picked a few more blues, but couldn't manage any bass. Around 1pm someone turned the fan on high and conditions went south. The guys opted to head back a little early and grab lunch so we packed it in and headed back to the barn. How were those fried lobster rolls?
We tried putting together a last-minute bass/blue trip on Sunday, but only 1 of our regulars were able to commit. Instead of backing out, I decided to take Bob and my fiance out for a nice day on the water. Went back to where we got the blues on Friday, but after 45 mins and not even a sniff, we opted to try our hand at fluking. Made a few drifts in the back and nada. Decided to take a ride towards the inside of the hook and picked up a couple of birds. Went oceanside and only managed a couple of shorts. Moved back into the bay and picked another couple of shorts. Very tough day overall, but the weather was great and company was even better. Scratched out an 8lb blue towards the end of the day. That's all I have to say about that.
