Default june contest

just a heads up to anyone interested...june CPR contests (based on length in photo) are open for registration on www.onlinefishingtournament.com

Eddie and I have been playing. I won $200 last month with a 15" crappie and a 25" slot striped bass. Eddie, forgot his photo token or he would've probably won too haha. This month we're putting our hybrid stripers against florida's largemouths! the earlier people sign up the more other people sign up and the bigger the pot gets.

email sean@onlingfishingtournament.com with any questions or comments or post your question here. It's a cool site giving every day anglers the opportunity to compete with each other and add another aspect to fishing.

That's pretty cool! I would never have faith in this type of thing being legitimate, but if you really won and received money for it I may consider. I looked at the results that were posted for April and I think my girlfriend and I would have won or at least placed in most of the tournaments if we had entered them. Does only the person in first place win something?

It's absolutely legit. Been doing this for years. This particular site I've done for like 7 months, it's still small and new I think it has potential so I'm trying to get more participants. If more anglers join the pots will get bigger and more place slots will get prizes. Right now it's winner takes the whole pot, all done through PayPal.

You can email the creator directly, it's not a big company or anything. Just another angler that started and runs it. Sean@onlinefishingtournament.com

Seems like a cool guy, I email him all the time with questions and suggestions. If you join, tell him chrisper4694 sent you. And make sure you take good 'bumped' fish measurement pictures. I can show you some examples if you want.

Thanks! I might have to give it a try sometime but it is a little scary competing with people from different states that have much bigger fish in there waters..lol I'm not sure exactly what you mean about the good bumped fish pictures, so if you could explain that would be appreciated. I tend to have a real hard time getting a good pic of a fish measurement without harming the fish, especially if I am by myself or on my kayak. Yesterday I caught a 24 1/2 inch Pickerel on my Kayak and I tried getting a pic of it up against the ruler that's mounted on it, which was a real struggle! I ended up taking a few slime dart tail slaps to the face, and then it was in my lap.....hahaha I managed a few pics and none of them where probably good enough to be valid for this type of contest, especially at the actual length of the fish. I ended up just releasing the fish before injuring it, I probably got the right measurement on my gopro video anyway. How do you go about getting pics of the fish measurement without harming the fish?

honestly, i use to fish from a kayak a lot for these contests and i found out pretty quick it was almost impossible to do safely so i stopped trying(guys who do it use a huge fold up bumper board that has raised edges and almost like a box, hold the fish with the ruler sticker on the inside of it, i'll post an example) if kayak fishing is your method, you'd have to make or pay big bucks for one of those big fish holding bumper boards. the one in the pic i found has a piece that attaches to make it longer if your fish is longer...it takes up a good amount of room though.

I do most of mine from a flat bottom jon boat, easy to have the ruler already out and (keep wet if hot in the sun) lay the fish down quick pic, selfie and back in it goes. with the striper in the example i'm in my friends saltwater boat and the ruler and fish are both pushed up against the cooler (straight edge) and i just lay the tip of the fish's tail on the measuring line so i can zoom in and see it's exact length. the best crappie is on a regular effective cheap bumper board you can buy almost anywhere that sells fishing stuff.

you can look on www.onlinefishingtournament.com site to see more examples of good pictures and bad measurement pictures.

if you're worried about competing with guys from other states...don't...i've proven that to myself by winning plenty more money than i've spent in entries by at least $1,000 over the past few years. i mean can we compete with southern largemouth? probably not, although your largemouth would have won last month fyi. and anyway we can put our hybrid striped bass in the same category with southern largemouth (any freshwater bass, i confirmed with the guy who runs it)

also that's why the slot contests are great...anyone can win, it's not the biggest fish, it's the closest to the listed slot (14", 23", etc.) without going over, any species! they used to have free contests with the prize being a t-shirt so people could try the experience, but it looks like they don't do that anymore.
