Coastwide menhaden catch increased
The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission voted today for 10-percent increase in the Menhaden catch.

My gut tells me that they got the increase because they know how to lobby and have a lot of money

So, reduce the primary food source for the very fish that needs protection by reducing the harvest

Would be funny if it weren't so ridiculous. Always wondered how many Stripers, Blues, etc. die each pull of the purse.

If they take more bunker out then the fish should be Hungry and easier to catch!
So keep increasing the quota till there is no bunker then the fish will be really ez to catch right? 😳. That is good science no?

That's why I posted up about the vote that took place today. The post got less then 200 views. Everyone has no one to blame besides themselves. I sent emails to all involved to vote against the increase. If history proves anything it is that the recreational fisherman is hard to rally around most anything and that once they crack the faucet for increases in bunker landings they won't stop anytime soon.

I have to agree most guys will not even send a letter or e mail , so this is what u get screwed royally !!
Once the bunker R gone lotsa charter rigs will be available just like up north now! Indifference or let the other guy do it attitude will be our downfall !

There was a back and forth on another forum re the bunker quota and in the midst of that BS thread I get a PM from a commercial fisherman out in Alaska. He basically said Rec guys hate Comm guys and vice versa, but about the ONLY thing they agree on is you don't f**k with the forage fish because EVERYONE loses.
