Re: low water
a lot of these blowout tides occur around moons and HARD W or NW winds...

Re: low water
Have the same thing in Waretown. After days of blowing hard out of the west you get the blow out tides. As soon as the wind switches it rises. We get them every year but seems to be happing more often this year

Re: low water
Most of the water was turned into ice. Once it all melts, water levels will rise. Lol! The last new moon tide produced some really low water in the Manasquan. I agree with the fact that strong NW wind and the full or new moon combined, really push the water out.

Re: low water
Yes, combinations of new or full moons and West winds make for abnormally low tides. Opposite is true with E and new or full moons, high tides are abnormally high.
The dredging should have nothing to do with it at all. Water seeks it's own level no matter how deep or shallow the channels are.

Re: low water
Due to the declination of the sun, pulling more water towards the southern hemisphere. Combine that with west wind being the prevailing wind direction in the winter( less southerly winds) and less freshette because of ice you tend to get exaggerated low tides between the autumnal and spring solstices.
