Thursday Stripers off Mantaloking up to 40lbs
Bite was on Thursday afternoon, only 5 or 6 boats out there but Stripers to 40 lbs! were being trolled on white and chartreuse shad rigs in 65 ft of water. I hooked up with a big bass in 45' right near Pipe on a bunker spoon but it somehow spit hook at the surface before I got my hands on it. Happy to report that big bass are still rolling through the area, water was warmer at 49 degrees. Hopefully they stick around after this weekend storm...

Re: Thursday Stripers off Mantaloking up to 40lbs
Nice to hear. Most are calling it quits already. Hopefully it's not an abberation. When was it, two or three years ago we were catching keepers on New Year's Eve. Not many but there were bluefin mixed in. Looked over at one guy on his knees, body pressed hard up against rail with that helpless "wtf do I do now?" look on his face. Not much when a tuna grabs your 20lb test on the offside of the boat and goes under.
