Default Big D 11/22

Was up and out early for a cold ass morning on the D today. Got to the launch and was greeted by lots of ice lol. Ramp was frozen pretty good, lots of ice sheets floating down the river, and most of the slack water had about a 1/2" of ice. Air temp at 16 degrees when we launched, water temp at 30 degrees . Got to the spot and managed some quick action early. 2 Walleyes within 5 minutes of each other, followed by a nice Channel Cat just as the sun came out over the mountains. Walleyes were 20" and 21", with the Cat at 26". All fish on 2.5" Relax swimshad. Nothing was happening after that, so we beached the boat and started a fire to warm up and for some slate - oven pizza. Was off the water by 3pm. Not another soul to be seen, had the place to ourselves.

Great report....great pictures and a great way to spend the morning. I haven't been in the river in weeks and passing it every day just makes me want to be in there. Great catching while others are dreaming about catching !!

.

Great pics. You guys are hardcore being out there and breaking ice.

I stopped by the boat ramp along Old Mine Road on my way home from Flatbrook yesterday to see if anyone was crazy enough to be out there and there was NOBODY parked there. My whole trip down to Route 80 I saw a single boat out on the river.

It's interesting to see the size forage those walleye are eating. Much bigger than I would have expected.

Looks like a nice, adventurous day on the river. Sweet eyes and fat cat to boot!
