Default Spruce Run Night 10-30-2014

So after the weekend of chasing Salmon and then Monday Raritan Bay fishing was back to the Spruce Run. Probably longest time I spend not fishing in last 3 months (2 days)

Time: 7:30 pm till 12 am

Bait Used: Clams and Chicken Livers

Set up. Slip bobbers and rigs

All I can say it was chilly out last night but nice and clear. As my grandpa used to say there is not such thing as cold weather just not enough warm cloth. As usual fishing picked up after 9 - 9-30pm. First fish on and after a brief fight 10lbs line snapped. Great I thought to myself it will be one of those nights then. Second one hooked and that was a baby hybrid not more than 9 inches. So taking in consideration the size of the fish and going against my superstition regarding release of the first fish ....I let it go. Pretty much don't have to say how the rest of the night went. My friends hooked into pair of hybrids 20 and 14 inches - both were released and before the night was over they managed to pick up a perch as well. All fish was released unharmed.

Now to make the night even better we got pulled over going back on 31 on the b/s charge that we were speeding. Have to give credit to the officers they were polite and let us go without any tickets. Probably just making sure everything is safe on the Mischief night.

On a side note. Big thanks to the guys at Effingers. I had an issue with glowsticks before and they went out of their way to make it right by me even though they did not have too. Big thanks.

So overall not a bad/terrible night but only thing that was surprised me was a fact that we did not catch a single catfish during that time. Not even a baby one.

Now for weekends probably will make it out to Round Valley on Sunday morning so if anyone will be around there will be great to meet you guys.

Tight Lines

Andre

Andre, was out at SR earlier this week with minimal success although we did get a pretty decent size channel - maybe 28" or so.

Curious if you've tried the livers / clams on RV? I typically use shiners on slips over there but lately been fishing rapalas with some success.

Have not tried yet but want to. I actually wanted to go to RV last night but the gang wanted to go to Spruce. If I go to RV on Sunday I will try it out but now boys want to head for more salmon action so I am not sure anymore ... Cant split into two ...lol

might not have the same luck at rv with the liver dont think there are as many cats in there as spruce and there are no wipers at rv to hit it but you never know saw that pic of the 18 pounder someone pulled out of rv and the cats like the warm water and muddy bottoms more and are more active in the summer and stuff from my experience starting to get cold out there at night and in the mornings more trout weather... and andre was thinking maybe going out sunday morning but saw it was supposed to be really windy tomorrow so not sure if it be worth getting up mega early
