![]() Now I know my buddies Andre and them have been have been having good luck at night at spruce run and RV, but I was wondering what places you guys would recommend from shore in the morning anywhere since I am willing to travel even though I am in central jersey. Will be going tomorrow morning so any recommendations would help. Also, since most on here know that I am not as skilled as most on here, any tips would be greatly appreciated. I simply enjoy fishing so I do not have a target preference(target mostly bass, pickerel etc even though id love to get my first hybrid or trout soon), will take what I can get

![]() I'd hit a portion of the South Branch of the Raritan (or any river around you)....look on google or bing maps and find any crossings/bridges and there are usually access points. If you zoom in you can see if there are parking spots or pull offs. Use spinners, small minnow type jerk baits, small senkos weightless on a 1/0 worm hook, grubs on a 1/8 to 1/4 oz jig head with exposed hook and you should find some smallies and have a shot at those trout. The river holds all kinds of fish so you never know what you'll get. Gotta be willing to walk the bank looking for holes and stuff...waders are really helpfull if you have them.
Good luck wherever you try.

![]() I do have waders but have not used them. I always wanted to explore the south branch, but due to my lack of experience, I dont know where to start. I know getting out there and trying is how you learn, but I dont believe in practice making perfect it is productive practice that makes perfect lol. By spinners do you mean regular bass spinners or small inline spinners. Should I be targeting bass or trout? I am in old bridge if that helps with by what part of the raritan I am by.

![]() Ryan,
You know you can always hit the RV in a morning as well. Zach has been catching them in a wee morning hours from shore but he knows that place probably better than I ever will. I am not even going to suggest Farrington since well honestly when I was there in morning I never had any luck and only fish I caught in morning there I wouldn't even feed to my cat. ![]() Andre |

![]() Yeah Andre I figured it could be fished equally as well in the early morning, but like you said the spots I would be able to find would just be basic easy to find spots as I wouldnt want to adventure around there. Oh well I guess we'll see.

For some strange reason I was forced to go night fishing from shore in Raritan Bay last night. I do not like saltwater fishing and last night was just another example for me. Just one measly bluefish and a cold that's all I caught. Not even worth it to put a report up. LoL. But I was patient enough to wait for it even though complaining about how much I don't like it. ![]() Let me ask you something, I wqs thinking about trying live bait and looked at the rig set up page you showed me. Is there any major advantage to use the slip bobber with the bead and the whole 9 yards in conparison to a float that simply snaps onto the line and then just a hook om the end. Is this too basic yo catch anything hesides panfish?

![]() If you go to Round Valley, I would recommend casting really small, black/silver lures and sight fishing the Rainbows by the boat launch. I've been mostly throwing tiny Rapalas or using the fly rod and hooking up fairly regularly the past few mornings. Best best for bait would be either Shiners, Powerbait, or marshmallow and mealworm combos.
