Shark ID?
Fluked in about 35 foot if water off IBSP. Pretty good with 2 keepers and plenty of action on shorts, robins and small blues. At around 10AM we had a 6 foot shark swim past our boat like we were not even there. Dark gray in color with a short dorsal and tail fin visible as it swam by. Tried to get a picture but it all happened too fast. May be a long shot but Any idea what species? Not expecting anything dramatic just curious.

Re: Shark ID?
If it had a long whip like tail it could have been a Thresher. If not my next guess would be a Brown Sharks since they are are known to come in close to the beach.

Re: Shark ID?
I would think Brown is the right call but i would not be shocked if it was a bull shark. They always come inshore and rarely swim deep. Did you notice if there was a 2nd smaller dorsal fin? Pay attention to Dicovery Channel this week and i am sure you will see it. Bring on shark week!

Re: Shark ID?
Have caught threshers before so I am sure if was not that and it did not have a pronounced second dorsal. Looked at some photos and the dusky dorsal looks about right. ???

Re: Shark ID?
Hooked into a big brown saturday on flynns knoll. Light bucktailing set up was no match for this speed demon. Had to put it in gear and hammer down a few times to keep from getting spooled. Eventually it blew out of the water rolling over the line and breaking me off. Saw one there last year around this time of year ripping thru a school of bunker.
