Default fish id

Wednesday as I walked onto my dock I saw 2 very strange fish.It was shaped like a sunfish.It was bright blue in color and about 3 inches long.It had a tail that was 2 feet long and maybe 1/8 of an inch thick.And before anyone asks , no I dont do drugs.

SHARK RIVER ??

we have seen 2 of that type fish in the last week. the long fins are crazy bright blue

looked like an electric blue angle fish

Yes,shark river yacht club.Very cool looking fish.How does a 3 inch fish have a 2 foot long tail?

thats where we have seen them also. I cant believe that the snappers have not torn them to pieces, those fins look like pieces of electric blue ribbon.

I have seined small Lookdowns about the size you described and they have streamers off the dorsal that are very long. They are also more of a chrome color. Not sure about something that has long tail though.

sorta sounds like a lookdown, but not sure about the blue... without a picture it's very hard to ID

most likely lookdowns.. The have very long thin fins.. However 2 foot long fins on a 3 incher doesn't sound right.. The fins on some are kind of a "glowing" blue.. Do a search, and type in" lookdown fish pictures", and you will find some good pictures
