Default Trying to find a boat to go for mahi or tuna

Hey guys,

I am trying to knock off a few species from the list of fish I want to catch and at the top of my list are Mahi and Tuna. I thought I saw a party boat that goes out for $120 but I cannot seem to find it.
Any ideas of a captain/boat that has a fair around $120 to go offshore to catch some Mahi, tuna, cobia, etc?

Thanks guys!

You find a boat going for 120 call me any time even last minute I'll be ready!! Even if you go party boat you need to expect cost to be at least 350 with average cost in the 400's! It isn't cheap for capt or angler to go that far but rewards can be great! Look at open boat forum lots of 6 pack boats going now all with good experience and the party boats will start going late sept and oct! Good luck

Check and keep on checking the open boat section of the site... There are many charter and party boats that run these sorts of open trips but pretty sure it's not going to be $120. More like $350 or more if on a party or large charter boat or $600 or more for a smaller 6 passenger boat.

These types of trips are usually overnighters and run in late August and September so you are a bit early right now but you'll see some and will start seeing more in a few weeks.

There is a non sponsor that I am going on outta south jersey Monday for 325, that was the least expensive "offshore" trip I have seen. There are mid range mahi / bluefin trips that start around 200-250.

I did see a weekday day troll for 450 on a charter otherwise the Party boats are going to be your best bet. You might want to try a Bluefin trip and there maybe mahi around there also!!! and may be a little less expensive. $120 was like 1986 for a tuna trip!!! good luck

120.00 will just about cover my food bill for a tuna trip

ReelClass...a sponsor on here has a Sunday and Monday trip in the open boat page. They will be doing some trolling for Mahi/Tuna and then bottom fishing for like $250 + tip I think. Very comfortable ride and he is limiting the load on the trip.

I don't think you can even go fluking on a 6 pack for $120! If a charter offers you that rate, even for a mid range trip offshore, you should question the safety, service, and check reviews of the boat. Thats more like splitting gas then anything.

Your best bet is to jump on a 6 pack open boat if you want to check off some things on your bucket list...plus its a bit more comfortable and they will have all the gear you need (usually top notch too).

Good luck!

Yeah, like others have said, it's unlikely to find a tuna boat for $120. while returning from a 6 pack mid range bft trip, the capt stopped by the fuel dock to fuel up for the next day and the bill was like $900.
Because of the cost of gas, any offshore trip is going to be very expensive..

Thanks for all of the info guys! I have my own boat (well my dad does) and for $350 I can prob pay for gas to get out to the mudhole or chicken canyon. I really need to find that boat for $120, but I now feel like I am mistaking haha. Oh well, maybe it was a dream or something!

Thanks again for all of the info and feedback! Maybe I will check out that boat for $250!
