Are you looking to camp in the car camping area along the river or the tent camping area along the Appalachian Trail? This year, the park police have done a good job of keeping the crowds down to manageable levels. I guess this was a response to the drownings that occurred last summer at the park. The park is quieter now. On the weekends, it no longer looks like a riot at one of those ethnic parades in New York City. The downside is if you want to park, you have to be there early. If you want to claim a space at the car camping area, I suggest you get there EARLY EARLY. As for the fishing, I've grown disenchanted with the Delaware River after the Smallmouth population crashed. Other people still do well there, but I don't. In the evenings, you can still catch Channel Cats, Walleye, and there are swarms of panfish like Rock Bass. I actually don't know if they still have a designated swimming area there. Regardless, people wade into the river and swim along its entire length, especially where the river forms pools. .

I spoke too soon. It looks like there was some changes made. I looked up the site and found this: http://www.state.nj.us/dep/parksandf...rthington.html Quote:
![]() Ugh...why do they have to make everything so complicated. .

![]() We camped at Driftstone Campground in Mt. Bethel on the PA side just south of the Gap a few weeks ago. Highly recommended. They have their own little side channel behind an island that you can tube float as much as you want all day. They also have their own boat launch. Not sure how the shore fishing is because the river was flowing chocolate milk but I'm sure you could find smalls and pans along that property.
