Default Productive 90 minutes on the river

I got on the river last night at about 6:30 after work and was off the water by a little after 8PM. Missed a great strike on one of my first casts and then landed a decent pickerel.

There was another area I wanted to try that was about a 15 minute paddle each way, but decided to stay the area I started in, with a great water level and weeds. I am glad I did !! Wound up landed 5 pike with one being very nice at just over the 36 inch mark.

This pike took me about 5 minutes to get to the kayak after making some great runs and then getting caught up in some weeds. After a couple of pictures I was drenched from sweat and getting splashed and just sat there for a few minutes having a nice cold one.

A few casts later in the same spot, I hooked and got another pike that was just bigger than the spinner bait that I was trying to get a picture of, that just starting going crazy and went back in.

The other pike landed were all in the mid 20's. A great 90 minutes for sure !!

I find it awesome you frequently land Pickerel on the river. I've never caught one, and only have witnessed one landed in the passed 5 years. I've got to get out with you one day soon.

Great catching Dan! Nice quality fish all around! That tainted river water feels quite refreshing on a hot and humid day. Way to stay em consistently!!! YOU DA MAN!!!!

Can't speak for others but I've only caught them in a short 2-3 mile section. Three trips to that area and all three times got at least one pickerel. I've made probably 50 other stops elsewhere along the river and no pickerel except redfin.
