Default Fish id

Went out on LH for a couple hours yesterday. Water was a steady 73 degrees and it was a pretty productive crappie day. Also caught this guy who smacked a herring. Looks like a sunnie but I've never seen that kind of coloring on a sunnie before

As stated above, Rock Bass and a baby Hybrid. That Hybrid is sweet, smallest one I've ever seen!

I thought hybrids don't reproduce, or was it stocked at that size?

Likely stocked at that size or even a bit smaller. They grow fast though. Really fast...

The day the KDC float stocked last year we put in 4000 fingerlings which were about 4" long. They get to 12" in about 1 year and are legal 16" keepers or better within 2 yrs. They eat herring and grow very fast. They were actually invented to control baitfish populations and sunny populations to help grow trophy bass lakes. The theory is they dont reproduce so once they control things they die off. Interesting read on the hybrids.......I love em
