Default Back Bay Fluke?

Saturday - very slow - Caught 4 keeps
biggest was 22 inches

Monday - NOTHING! Not a touch
Loads of Bunker off South Amboy

Is it me or has the fluke fishing in the back sucked so far.
In years past I have done very well in the back. The past 2 years its been very spotty.
Don't know if its water temp, water quality or what - but it seems they are not there especially this time of year.
Anyone else feel the same way?

When I say back bay i am talking Triangle Area out to buoy 46 off SI.

Thoughts?

Last year the back dried up very early, this year it seems it never got started. Hopefully the action is merely delayed, and will "break wide open" anyday now

Unlike previous years, last year there was only a 10-14 day period of good fluking in the back bay.

I've been out a few times this year and the furthest west I've fished is the east side of Prince's Bay.

Had good action with shorts & keepers (up to #7.2) both days this weekend fishing tight to the beach off of Staten Island-but again that was to the east.

FWIW I think Sandy had something to do with. Not exactly sure what but it seems the tailed off after the storm in 2012.

Had a great spring last year then it just died out in late June.

This year has been worse. Very few bites, fewer keepers.

Last week went from Keyport sailboats down the Morgan, Triangle then up the SI shoreline, over to the 19 and across Round Shoal with zip to show for it.

Time to get out front.

Water in Triangle heated up too quickly last year. Temps this year are perfect, so far, but action has been lacking. Will try it again this weekend and report back.

The blues were spitting up grass shrimp. That is the key to thewest end of the bay.Temp and bait and I think the fluking will improve.

I think the bottom is loaded with "crap" from all the poop plants releasing untreated waste into the bay for weeks after the storm......would you want to lay in crap ??? The flatties are the only ones who bury themselves.
Up until Sandy we could put a three man limit plus together in the Triangle with no problem. Go back and research how many gallons of raw sewage was released. Last year the back bay was the dead sea compared to years prior and looks like the same deal so far this year. Just Sayin.

The best flounder fishing in Quicy Bay in the 60's,70's was when Boston was still dumping straight into the water.
