Reel Class - Bass Report -- Oceanside
It's hard to believe I'm writing my FIRST report of the season on May 3rd, but that's what it is after this brutal winter.
Today's trip for all intents and purposes was a shakedown but we went out looking to kill some fish - so few guys have been trying ocean-side I figured we'd do some recon and try to be the ones to make that first good report of ocean caught fish in our neighborhood. Ocean was gorgeous, flat calm but water temps were 46-48* and there was loads of debris in the water -- water was generally clean.
We wound up running up the line and found some very scattered bait readings in the deep, near the line, and put out the trolling gear... We made our way up to SRI/Asbury area but for the entire stretch, we didn't even get a single touch on the rigs/spoons/plugs. We did this for a portion of the morning before calling it quits.
Needless to say things are VERY slow in our area, however a few warm sunny days will get that ocean temp up, the bait more concentrated, and hopefully the bass into town. Better days are ahead!
